Authentic Christian Men
ACCOUNTABILITY QUESTIONS (II PETER 1:10)
-
Have you spent daily time in the Scriptures and prayer?
-
Have you spent quality relationship time with your wife, family and friends? Who, besides your wife?
-
Have you been completely above reproach in your financial dealings? What about spending habits?
-
What changes/improvements/areas of growth need to happen with respect to your job, school, etc.?
-
Have you told any half-truths or been dishonest, or put on appearances to make others see you differently than you really are?
-
Have you related with any unbelievers to open doors to share Christ? Have you shared the Gospel with any unbeliever this week?
-
Have you had any flirtatious or lustful attitudes, tempting thoughts, or exposed yourself to any explicit materials (pornography, internet, television and the like) which would not glorify God? Have you spent time or interacted with someone in ways which might open the door to lust or thinking not honorable to God? Have you avoided "appearances of evil"?
-
Have you taken care of your body through daily physical exercise and proper eating/sleeping habits?
-
Have you allowed any person or circumstance to rob you of your joy and peace?
-
Have you been honest with me and God on your answers today?
Making accountability better and get the most out of your time.
- Prioritize time together on a weekly basis; if we don't meet or don't prioritize the time, we won't be as open with each other the next time.
- Help me make sure it happens
- Make sure we have enough time
- Don't let me brush over issues or accountability questions
- Use follow up questions, pursue things which may come up during an answer; when you do this I sense you care about me, when you don't, it can become formal and uncaring.
- Ask me "life-change" questions: What will you do about this? What's your plan to change? Why are things not progressing in this area? What would motivate you to allow God to work more in that?
- Issues which keep coming up may need separate or deeper treatment; be willing to confront, rebuke, go with me to someone who can help.
- Respond in some way to needs/hurts/issues I share
- Pray for me, preferably during the sharing time.
- Tell me that you will pray for me in the coming days/weeks.
- Remind me what the Word says regarding issues, my attitudes, relationships and the like.
- Make suggestions: help, solutions, ideas, people I could engage to help.
