What is a Christian?
In a day when most terms have lost their meaning, it is important that we as a church agree on the biblical definition of "Christian". A Christian is not one because of membership in a Christian church or because he was raised by Christian parents. According to the Bible there is a very narrow definition of the word.
Being a Christian has to do with:
-
Faith (1John 5:11-13; Ephesians 2:8,9; 1Corinthians 15:1-4)
-
A proper relationship to God (1John 1:1-3; John 17:3)
- Being born spiritually (John 3:3-7, 16)
What hinders people from becoming a Christian?
-
An unwillingness to acknowledge their need (sin).
-
A lack of understanding regarding the gospel.
- Wrong thinking regarding what a Christian is.
